Richard R. Wyka, 77, of Whiting, passed away on January 8, 2025. Born Passaic, he lived in Wallington, Rutherford, Saddle Brook, and Fair Lawn before coming to Whiting in 2004.

Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later had a distinguished career with the Rutherford Police Department, retiring after 31 years with the rank Sergeant in 2001. He was the first President of PBA Local 300, and was an active member of the VFW and the American Legion and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing in his free time. He was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, Whiting.

Richard is predeceased by his parents Adam and Sophie (Rzucidlo) Wyka and his siblings Robert, Marlene, Theodore, and Steven Wyka. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara; his children James Wyka (Rose), Richard Wyka (Gloria), Melissa Aguilar (Enrique), Mark Wyka (Eileen), Paul Wyka (Sarah), and Amy Donohue (Paul); his grandchildren Victoria, Nicholas, Lillian, Luke, Triana, Ana, Andrew, Marcus, Audrey, Logan, Violet, Eleanor, Catherine, Joseph, Brandon, and Ryan; his siblings Barbara Pami (Eugene), Peter Wyka (Kathleen), Arlene Wyka, and Patricia Marciniak.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 10:45 AM at the All Saints Chapel of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Interment will be private.
