ROBERT J. COMPTER, 77, of Whiting, MANCHESTER, died Saturday, December 15, at home. Born in Scranton, PA, he lived in Clifton for many years before moving to Ocean County in 1965. Mr. Compter retired from Eisco in Toms River. He served with the US Army 2nd Armor Division. He was a volunteer for Somebody C.A.R.E.S., Inc. in Whiting. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and was a member of the Knights of Columbus council in Little Falls. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita DeCourcey Compter; a nephew, Neal Blum of Clifton and several close friends. A funeral liturgy will be offered at 10 a.m., Thursday in the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting is in charge of arrangements.
