Obituary

Thomas Christopher Archer, 84, of Whiting, NJ formerly of Wood-ridge and Jersey City passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Fair Haven on Saturday March 19, 2016. Thomas is predeceased by Carmella, his wife of 56 years; his parents, Richard Archer and Dorothy Archer Ruch; his son-in-law, Stephen J. Fiorelli. He is survived by his four children: Karen Perizes (George), Theresa Fiorelli-Casey (Kevin), Thomas Archer II (Michele), and Carmel Boler (James). He also leaves behind his siblings: Joan Kruzdlo, Genevieve Huber, Richard Archer, Patricia Smith, Robert Archer, and David Archer. He will be missed by his eleven grandchildren: Fotis, Matt, Robert, Alex, Stephen, Thomas III, Ryan, Christine, Jamie, Matthew, Tyler. Tom attended St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church and school where he was an alter boy for many years. He served in the US Navy abroad the USS Salisbury Sound from October 23, 1950 to August 5, 1954 as a communication electrician and Motion Picture Operator. In 1955, he went on a blind date with Carmella Amato in Asbury Park. They fell in love and married June 9, 1956. No doubt he put his heart and soul into loving and caring for his beloved wife and family. While loving his wife and raising a family of six in Wood-Ridge, he worked at Maxwell House Coffee as an electrician and then owned and operated a successful business, Archer Electric. He took great pride in his work and service to the community, reserving time for his children's sporting events and extracurricular activities. He served at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church as choir member, usher, and church bingo cook. He will forever be remembered for his devotion to God, family, friends, and country. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made in his name to the American Cancer society. Memorial service to be held at a later date.
