William J. Canary, 87, of Whiting, passed away Sunday September 13th at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland, NJ. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Staten Island, NY before moving to Whiting in 1983. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a DAV Chapter member. He was a Purchasing Agent for the United States Postal Service. William was a member of the Audubon Lodge and Residents Club in Pine Ridge, the Tompkins Masonic Lodge #471, Staten Island, NY and Masonic and Shriners Lodge #11 in Livingston. He was a loving father and husband who enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marion; Two children William Canary Jr. and his wife Deborah of Hazlet and Michele Katchur and her husband, Ron of Toms River; two sisters, Chrissie Solberg of New Port Richie, FL; Annette Pappalardo of Long Island, NY; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
