William (Bill) J. George, 81, of Whiting, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 after an epic fight with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in Detroit, MI, lived in Bayville for over 50 years and spent the last seven years in Whiting. Bill was a kind and gentle man who is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maureen (Cairns) George; his children, Susan George-Horn and her husband Jeff of Toms River, Jacqueline Walters and her husband Christopher of Oaklyn, NJ, Richard George and his wife Renata of Delray Beach, FL, and Karen McCoy and her husband Spencer of Haddon Township, NJ; his grandchildren, Ashley, Sascha, Kevin, Sandon, Jeffrey, Margaret, Dylaney, Karsyn, and Ryan; one great-grandchild on the way; and his siblings, Robert George and Jacqueline Pontseele, of Michigan. Bill served in the US Army Reserves, and was a graduate of Kean College, Union, NJ. He was an Electronics Engineer for 50 years with Labvolt, Wall Township and taught at the Ocean County Vo-Technical School, Toms River, NJ in the later part of his career. Bill's first love was spending time with Maureen, his wife and their family. Known to his grandchildren as "Pops", Bill rarely missed his children's and grandchildren's activities including traveling to see them regularly. He was an avid boater, he loved being in the water and he also enjoyed his daily walks, working out in the gym and playing racquet ball. He was a parishioner of St. Junipero Serra Parish/St. Catherine of Siena Church, Seaside Park and before that St. Barnabas of Bayville, New Jersey. A memorial visitation will be held at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, on Monday, August 29, 2022, from 5-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial Will be held at St. Junipero Serra Parish/St. Catherine of Siena Church, Seaside Park at 10:00 am.
